Presbyterian Forum

The Church is called to tell the good news of salvation by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ as the only Savior and Lord proclaiming in Word and Sacrament that the new age has dawned, and that God who creates life also frees those in bondage, forgives sin, reconciles brokenness, makes all things new, and is still at work in the world.
   -- PC(USA) Form of Government, unrevised, G-3.0300a

The Presbyterian Forum is the "certain trumpet" for denominational reform. We are comprised of members of the Presbyterian Church (USA) who are committed to our reformed confessional theology and representative polity, working for spiritual and theological reformation within the denomination through overt political action beginning at the local presbytery level and through the General Assembly. We serve as a resource to Presbyterians to prepare, equip, and educate pastors, elders, and members, enabling you to use our connectional and representative system of governance in order to foster confessional integrity and discipline throughout the denomination. We recognize that the PC(USA) has become top-heavy and no longer represents the will and conviction of the majority of Presbyterians. Holding fast to Biblical standards and the Church's historic confessions, we seek, within rules set forth in our polity, to organize, network, resource, equip and advise reform-seeking Presbyterians, in a grassroots manner, to do the work of the Church on every level bringing her back to faithfulness, including ensuring that the commission delegates sent to General Assemblies by presbyteries are qualified and represent the will of the majority of Presbyterians. We believe empowering the clergy and equipping the laity is the real work of the Church, recognizing that strong mission is borne of strong discipleship.

The Presbyterian Church is confessional, constitutional, and connectional. The Church's rich confessional heritage embodies the identity and purpose of the Church and its members. The Biblical form of government with which the PC(USA) is blessed, as laid out in the Book of Order, requires Presbyterians to act as responsible stewards in the decisions made by the Church, but many are not equipped for this work. Empowering you, our brothers and sisters, for this work allows you to regain ownership of the decision-making process. Presbyterian connectionalism encourages church members to expect accountability from one another as we seek to follow the call to pursue the great ends of the Church. None of us - no church nor governing body - should passively rely on others to "be the Church for us." Each of us, together, doing the part we are each called to do, making each voice heard and each vote counted, comprise the Church. This is our call. The Presbyterian Forum's belief in the priesthood of all believers propels us to our work to equip Presbyterians, working towards confessional as well as ministerial faithfulness. More than ever, the PC(USA) needs to hear a clarion call from a certain trumpet, building up and encouraging those who can be servant leaders "in the field." We stand ready to assist you in congregations, presbyteries, and assemblies, sounding the call for reform.
